With over six minutes remaining in the second quarter, Cedric Benson pounded seven yards behind the left side of the offensive line on his way to a 92-yard first half rushing effort against the Houston Texans. Once the play was over and the bodies rolled away towards their respective huddles, Bengals starting right guard Bobbie Williams lay prone on the field, leveraging his upper body on his left elbow as the training staff examined his right ankle.

After a quick diagnosis, the toughest man in the world (more on that in a second) walked off the field with either one of two reactions. He was upset at what had happened or he was firing up the second-smallest crowd in Paul Brown Stadium history during a Cincinnati Bengals regular season game.

Williams later left the stadium on crutches with his right foot in a boot.

On Monday the Cincinnati Bengals placed Williams on Injured Reserve with a broken right ankle. Seriously. A guy listed well over 300 pounds walked off the field under his own power with a broken ankle.

To fill Williams' spot on the 53-man roster, the team promoted backup guard Otis Hudson -- originally Williams' backup in training camp.

Williams is the sixth player placed on a season-ending injury list after tight end Bo Scaife, wide receiver Jordan Shipley, linebacker Roddrick Muckelroy, cornerback Leon Hall and linebacker Keith Rivers -- all of whom were expected to be starters or at the very least significant contributors this season.
